Our Story

Baluchi Rug Gallery was founded by the Momeni family, who brought decades of knowledge in handmade rug sourcing, importing, and curation to Arizona's most vibrant arts district — Old Town Scottsdale. What began as a passion for preserving the centuries-old craft of hand-knotted rug making has grown into one of the largest and highest-rated rug galleries in the state.

The gallery is named after the Baluchi tribal weaving tradition — a style of rug making practiced by the Baluch people across the border regions of Afghanistan, and Pakistan. These rugs are known for their rich, dark color palettes, geometric precision, and deeply personal expression. The name reflects our roots: a family business built on authenticity, craftsmanship, and a deep respect for the weaving traditions that produce every piece in our collection.

Today, Baluchi Rug Gallery is a family team that combines decades of hands-on expertise in rug sourcing, design, cleaning, and restoration. Our customers aren't just buying a rug; they're working with people who have spent their lives immersed in this craft.

What Makes Us Different

We are direct importers. Unlike many rug retailers that buy from domestic wholesalers, we source our rugs directly from weaving communities and workshops around the world — Afghanistan, Turkey, Pakistan, India, and Central Asia. This means we control the quality of every piece in our gallery and can offer pricing that reflects our direct relationships, without the markups of middlemen.

We operate our own rug loom. Our loom in Afghanistan allows us to produce fully custom handmade rugs — any size, any design, any color palette, any material. When a customer or interior designer needs something that doesn't exist in our 7,000+ piece inventory, we can create it from scratch. This is a capability that very few rug galleries in Arizona — or the country — can offer.

We are open 7 days a week. We know that rug shopping often happens on weekends and around busy schedules. Our gallery at 7155 E. 5th Ave, Suite #B in Old Town Scottsdale is open every day, Monday through Sunday, from 10am to 6pm.

We offer complimentary in-home trials. Choosing a rug from a showroom is one thing; seeing it in your actual space — with your furniture, your flooring, your lighting — is another. We deliver rugs to your home at no cost so you can live with them before making a decision. No pressure, no obligation. You only buy the piece you love.

Baluchi Rug Gallery houses one of the largest collections of authentic handmade rugs in Arizona. Every rug in our gallery is 100% handmade — we carry no machine-made pieces. Our inventory spans the full range of weaving traditions and design styles: Persian rugs from (Tabriz, Isfahan, Heriz, Kashan, Nain), Afghan and Caucasian Kazak rugs, Turkish Oushak rugs, tribal and village rugs (Gabbeh, Qashqai, Bakhtiari, Baluchi, Turkoman), Kilim flat-weaves, Silk Qum pieces, modern and contemporary handmade rugs, transitional designs, and Native American and Navajo textiles.

Sizes range from small 2x3 accent rugs and runners of every length to oversized and palace-size pieces exceeding 13x17 feet. Whether you're furnishing a studio apartment or a 10,000-square-foot Scottsdale estate, we have the inventory to match.

Professional Rug Cleaning: We use a full-submersion hand-wash process — the only safe way to deep-clean a handmade rug. Our process includes pre-inspection, thorough dusting, gentle water-based washing, complete rinsing, controlled drying, and final grooming. We also offer specialized pet odor and stain decontamination. Pickup and delivery available throughout Scottsdale, Paradise Valley, Cave Creek, Phoenix, Gilbert, Chandler, Mesa, Tempe, and surrounding areas.

Rug Repair & Restoration: Our artisans perform reweaving, fringe repair, selvage edge binding, moth damage restoration, color touch-ups, and structural stabilization using traditional hand-repair techniques that preserve your rug's integrity and value.

Custom Rug Program: Using our own rug loom, we create fully custom handmade rugs to your exact specifications — size, shape, pattern, color palette, and materials (wool, silk, or blends). Our design team collaborates with you from concept to delivery.

Interior Designer Program: We work with interior designers across Arizona and nationwide, offering preferred pricing, access to our full inventory, in-home client showings, and flexible project support.

Rug Appraisals: Professional written appraisals for insurance, estate planning, resale, or personal valuation.
