Working With Interior Designers in Scottsdale: How We Support Your Rug Projects

If you're an interior designer in Scottsdale, Paradise Valley, or anywhere in the Valley, the rug is probably the piece that gives you the most anxiety. It's the anchor of the room. The client has to love it. The color has to be right. The scale has to work. And you can't afford to get it wrong on a $15,000 decision. Here's how we make the rug part of your project effortless.

Why Designers Keep Coming Back to Baluchi

We've worked with interior designers across Arizona for over 30 years. Some have been with us for a decade or more — through dozens of projects, hundreds of rugs, and thousands of client meetings. They keep coming back because we understand the way designers work, and we've built our entire trade program around making their job easier.

Here's what that looks like in practice: you don't have to bring your client to a showroom and hope they like something. You don't have to guess whether a color will work on their travertine or clash with their cabinetry. You don't have to explain to a client why a 5x8 rug won't anchor their 25-foot great room. We handle all of that — so you can focus on the design vision and the client relationship.

How a Typical Designer Project Works With Us

Every designer has their own workflow, and we adapt to yours. But here's the general process that most of our design partners follow:

1

You Share the Brief

Tell us about the project — room dimensions, ceiling height, flooring material, design direction, color palette, and any mood boards or inspiration images. You can call us, email us, or visit the showroom in person. The more context we have, the better our curation will be.

2

We Curate a Selection

Based on your brief, we pull 4-8 rugs from our 7,000+ piece inventory that fit the project's style, scale, and palette. We photograph them and send you a preview so you can narrow the selection before anything leaves our showroom. If nothing in inventory fits, we discuss custom options.

3

In-Home Showing With Your Client

We deliver the curated selection to your client's home and lay each piece out in the intended room. You and your client see the rugs in context — on the actual floors, against the actual walls, under the actual lighting. This eliminates the biggest risk in rug selection: choosing from a showroom and discovering it looks completely different at home.

4

Client Decides in Their Space

We leave the rugs with your client for a day or two — long enough to see them in morning light, evening light, and everything in between. There's no pressure. They can take their time. You and your client make the final decision together, in the environment where the rug will actually live.

5

Delivery, Installation & Follow-Up

We deliver and place the selected rug with appropriate padding. Any rugs that weren't selected are picked up — no charge. After installation, we're available for any ongoing care needs: cleaning, repair, moth treatment, or future rug additions as the client's collection grows.

Real Scenarios We Handle for Designers

To give you a sense of the range of projects we support, here are a few common scenarios:

Scenario: New Construction — Desert Modern Home in Silverleaf

The brief: A 7,500 SF contemporary home with polished concrete floors, 14-foot ceilings, floor-to-ceiling glass, and a neutral palette of warm grays, whites, and natural wood. The designer needs rugs for the great room (requires a 12x15 or larger), formal dining room, primary suite, home office, and two guest bedrooms.

What we did: Curated modern handmade rugs in muted earth tones and organic textures that complement the architecture without competing with the views. For the great room, we produced a custom 12x16 wool piece in a tone-on-tone abstract design since nothing in standard sizes anchored the space correctly. Delivered all rugs for in-home review. Client kept five of six pieces.

Scenario: Full Renovation — Paradise Valley Estate

The brief: A 1990s Mediterranean-style estate being fully renovated with updated interiors. The designer is transitioning from heavy Tuscan to a lighter, transitional aesthetic. Needs to replace all existing rugs across nine rooms, including a 22-foot foyer with a curved staircase.

What we did: Selected transitional and updated traditional pieces in muted palettes that bridge the home's classic architecture with the new modern furnishings. For the curved foyer, we designed a custom oval rug on our loom — a piece that no standard inventory could provide. Coordinated all deliveries through the client's property manager and household staff.

Scenario: Single-Room Refresh — Cave Creek Ranch Home

The brief: A designer's repeat client wants to update their family room. The room has Saltillo tile, exposed wood beams, and warm Southwestern tones. Budget is $3,000-$5,000 for a 9x12 or 10x13.

What we did: Pulled five tribal and Kilim pieces — bold geometric Kazaks and warm-toned Gabbeh rugs that complement the Southwestern materials without feeling theme-park Western. Delivered to the client's home in Cave Creek. Client chose a Caucasian Kazak in deep reds and blues that transformed the room.

What Designers Tell Us

The most common feedback from our designer partners is that our in-home showing process eliminates 90% of the stress of rug selection. When the client sees the rug on their floor, under their light, next to their furniture — the decision makes itself. No returns, no second-guessing, no "it looked different in the store."

Custom Rugs: Total Design Control

For projects where existing inventory doesn't meet the design vision — whether it's a non-standard size, a specific color match, or a completely original pattern — our Custom Rug Program gives you total creative control.

Unlike most rug retailers that outsource custom orders to third-party factories, we operate our own rug loom. This means direct oversight of materials, construction, and quality. You specify the dimensions, the design, the color palette, and the fiber (wool, silk, or blends). We produce a design rendering for approval, then begin production. Throughout the process, we're in communication with you — not a middleman — so adjustments can be made quickly.

Custom rugs are especially valuable for new construction, commercial hospitality projects (boutique hotels, restaurants, luxury real estate staging), and any residential project where the architect or designer wants every element to be intentional and unique.

Beyond the Sale: Ongoing Client Care

One of the things that sets us apart for designers is what happens after the project is complete. Your client now owns one or more handmade rugs — and over the years, those rugs will need professional care. We provide:

Professional rug cleaning with free pickup and delivery across Paradise Valley, North Scottsdale, Cave Creek, Fountain Hills, and the entire Valley. Full-submersion hand-wash — never steam cleaning.

Rug repair and restoration — reweaving, fringe repair, moth damage, edge binding, and color restoration using traditional hand techniques.

Appraisals for insurance scheduling, estate planning, and donations.

This ongoing care relationship benefits you as the designer: your clients stay connected to a trusted resource, their rugs stay in excellent condition (which reflects well on your original design work), and when they're ready to add another rug or refresh a room, you're the first call — with us as your sourcing partner.

The Scottsdale Design Community

Scottsdale's design community is one of the most active in the Southwest. From solo residential designers working on individual homes to full-service firms managing multi-million-dollar new construction projects, the Valley's designers bring a sophisticated eye and a demanding standard of quality. We've been part of this community for over three decades, and we understand the pace, the expectations, and the pressures of the work.

We also understand that every designer's workflow is different. Some want to browse our showroom with their client. Others send a mood board and let us do the curating. Some need a rug in 48 hours for a staging deadline. Others are planning nine months ahead for a new build. We adapt to the way you work — not the other way around.

No Fees, No Minimums, No Commitments

Our designer program has no enrollment fees, no minimum purchase requirements, and no exclusivity commitments. Use us for one project or twenty. We earn your repeat business by delivering quality, expertise, and service — not by locking you into a contract.

Get Started

Setting up your trade account takes one phone call or one email. Tell us about your practice, your current project, and what you need. We'll set up your pricing, schedule a showroom walkthrough or an in-home client showing, and start pulling options for your project. Most designers begin with a visit to our showroom — 7,000+ rugs across every style, and a team that can walk you through anything from a $1,500 tribal piece for a guest bedroom to a $40,000 antique Persian for a Paradise Valley living room.

We're at 7155 E. 5th Ave, Suite #B in Old Town Scottsdale, open 7 days a week from 10am to 6pm. We respond to all designer inquiries in under 10 minutes — because we know you're on a deadline.
